The Värmland province situated in the middle of Sweden, lies on the Norwegian border and offers everything that makes Sweden so attractive: open plains in the South, forested hills in the North, numerous rivers, lakes and forests as well as charismatic towns. Värmland is also known as the miniture version of Sweden.
Highlights: Klarälvsbanan (bikepath over a former rail line), The Karlstad province (a student city), Touristic Sunne, Author Selma Lagerlöf (Nobel prize winner) and not to forget the beautiful nature.
Program
Day 1: Arrival in Karlstad
Karlstad, the capital of Värmland, is an lively student city. Here you will find a small shopping center and charming cafe’s. Visit the Värmland museum or have a swim in the Vänern – one of the largest inland lakes within Europe.
Overnight stay: Clarion Hotel Plaza – Karlstad
Day 2: Stage 1: Karlstad – Deje. Approx. 35 km.
This reasonably flat stage goes via Skåre and Kil to Dömle. There is a golf course next to Dömle Herrgård. It is also possible to go swimming and canoeing in the nearby lake.
Overnight stay: Dömle Herrgård – Deje
Day 3: Stage 2: Deje – Sunne. Approx. 42 km.
Today the route will head towards the touristic town of Sunne. Sunne lies between the 2 lakes of the Mellan Fryken and Övre Fryken. Close to Sunne is the Rottnerospark which is a remarkable garden that also comprises a special adventure park for children. It is also worth your time to visit the town centre.
Overnight stay: Quality Hotel Selma Lagerlöff – Sunne
Day 4: Stage 3: Sunne – Gräsmark – Sunne. Approx. 45 km.(or a rest day)
Today you can enjoy a pleasant round trip to Gräsmark. Gräsmark is a delightful village with a white church and a beautiful lake.
Overnight Stay: Quality Hotel Selma Lagerlöff – Sunne
Day 5: Stage 4: Sunne – Uddeholm. Approx. 55 km.
The majority of this stage leads through a richly forested area. The Råda lake is extremely close to the hotel.
Overnight stay: Uddeholms Hotell - Uddeholm
Day 6: Stage 5: Round trip to Uddeholm
Overnight stay: Uddeholms Hotell - Uddeholm
Day 7: Transfer to Munkfors + stage 6: Munkfors – Karlstad. Approx. 60 km.
This last stage brings you back to the starting point and rides over a former railway line (now asphalted). This path (Klarälvsbanan) is completely free of automotive transport.
Overnight stay: Clarion Hotel – Karlstad
Day 8:
Day 8: After breakfast the last of the hired gear is returned and it’s time to day goodbye. Have a safe journey home and we hope you enjoyed your trip.

Group size and composition
This individual bike tour is suitable for people with little cycling experience.
Level:
This is a bike trip with light gradient changes. The bike tour covers a rolling landscape that varies between both hilly and flat courses. This bike tour is suited for people with an average bike fitness. An average bike stage will lie between 30km and 55km (the 6th stage is 60km however the course has a slight downhill gradient). We have tried to steer clear of the heavy traffic as much as possible, however in some places this has been unavoidable.
Accommodation:
The overnight stays are all in good hotels with your own private shower and toilet.
Meals:
You will be provided with a daily breakfast. You will also be provided with 6 packed lunches.

Family friendly:
The bike tour is developed in a way that there are regular interesting things for the children to see or do. At the accommodations there is always room for the children to play: more details are found with the accommodation description. It would be a good idea if you brought along some simple games for the kids.
