Cycle during the day through the picturesque Dalarna and arrive in the evening at various surprising accommodations. The perfect way to explore Dalarna is on your bike. There are numerous enjoyable places where there is always something to do, admire the stunning Siljan lake and cycle over smooth sealed roads. Every now and again you will have to climb steadily so good bike fitness is desirable. You will receive a detailed cycling tour description with information on the region, the accommodation and enjoyable eating locations. Your baggage will be waiting for you as you arrive at each destination where you can relax and recuperate after your days ride. At every destination there are plenty of things to do within cycling distance.

The Siljan lake in the Dalarna province is one of the most beautiful lakes in Sweden. During this tour you will see various aspects of the lake. In Orsa you will find the biggest bear park in Europe where you will see, amongst others, the Big Kamtjatka bear. In Vinäs you can watch how the famous wooded Dalarna horses are made. Due to the numerous remarkable locations, the Siljan area is appealling to all tourists.

Program:
Day 1:

Arrival at Orsa in the afternoon. You will be given your leased bikes in the late afternoon. Overnight stay: Orsa (Kungshaga Hotel)  

 

Day 2:

Orsa – Furudal. The stage begins with a picturesque ride to Furudal with a stunning view over the Orsasjön. In Furudal you will stay at a Herrgård. These are usually traditional old houses with lots of room. There are a number of museums to visit or you can relax in the garden. Overnight stay: Furudal (Furudals Bruk)  

 

 

Day 3

Furudal - Rättvik. Today we ride from Furudal to Rättvik. Similar to some other stages you will pass a number of swimming holes. Rättvik is a relatively large place where there are many things to do. You may choose to walk along the Siljan lake, go swimming, visit the museum, or simply enjoy a coffee and cake at the local bakery. Overnight stay: Rättvik (Hotel Lerdalshöjden)  

 

Day 4:

Daytrip Rättvik - Rättvik

Today’s ride is in and around the Rättvik region. In Tällberg you will see, once again, an amazing view over the Siljan lake. In this remarkable place you will find a number of souvenier shops as well as places to relax and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. Overnight stay: Rättvik (Hotel Lerdalshöjden)

 

Day 5:

Rättvik – Mora Today a large part of the ride will be close to the edge of the Siljan lake. We ride from Rättvik to Mora. On the way you will pass Nusnäs. This is where the world famous wooden Dalarna horses are made. You can watch how this is done from a number of different shops in the town. Overnight stay: Mora (Mora Parken)  

 

Day 6

A day off.

Visit the centre of Mora with it’s nice atmosphere, take a swim in lake Siljan. We can recommend the museum of the famous Swedish painter Zorn and the Vasalopsmuseum.

Day 7

Mora – Orsa A short and light stage along the Orsa lake will bring you back to your starting point. You ride through the center of Orsa, with a nich church of the 14th century.

Overnight stay: Orsa (Kungshaga Hotel)

 

Day 8: After breakfast it’s time to say goodbye. Have a safe trip home and we hope you enjoyed your trip.

 

Ofcourse you may choose to extend your stay in Orsa and visit “Grönklitt Björnparken”, the biggest bear park in Europe. You will find bears from around the world including the powerful Russian Kamtjatka bear.  

 


 

Level:
This is a cycle tour with various climbs. There are numerous hilly stages as well as a number of flatter sections. People with basic bike fitness will be well suited for the rolling landscape however keep in mind there are several solid climbs. The average cycling distance is purposely kept short and is between 35km and 50km. The route is mostly along the Siljan lake and over the open road where cars may also drive. The organisation has tried to avoid any busy traffic areas however in Sweden the roads are mostly quiet.
